My passion for brass lies deep within the brass band community. Having held the position of Principal Cornet with the Harrogate Band aged 19, I quickly progressed into top level banding aged 21, when I joined the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band on front row. From there, I was able to spread my wings, accept a seat within the cornet section of the Black Dyke Band in November 2009 and have never looked back. Since this time, I have been Yorkshire Area Champion, Triple English National Champion, British Open Champion, National Champion of Great Britain and the biggest accolade of all, European Champion, twice.
For a 3 year period, I was musical director at the Tewit Youth Brass Band, Harrogate, leading this group of youngsters (aged 11 - 18) to the most successful period in their history - claiming the title of Whit Friday Saddleworth March Overall Youth Champions as well as Gold Award (3rd place) at the 2014 National Youth Championships of Great Britain. Some of my proudest conducting moments, for sure.
I pride myself on competing and performing at the highest level and take huge delight in working alongside others to enable them to realise their full potential. "
